Such an agreement was reached during an online meeting between the Director of the Department of Agroindustrial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission Armen Harutyunyan with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile and the Embassy of this country in the Russian Federation. The meeting was organized within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the EEC and the Government of the Republic of Chile.

The parties decided to create a working platform in the Commission, which will help to study the potential of cooperation in the field of the agro-industrial complex and develop proposals for increasing the volume of mutual trade in agricultural products and food between the EAEU states and Chile. Such interaction will facilitate the establishment of work on the exchange of experience and best practices on the intensification of fruit growing and winemaking, including through the digitalization of the agricultural sector.

“Recognizing the success of Chile in the development of agricultural production, the experience of using trade missions and diplomatic missions to develop exports of agricultural products, the Commission is interested in studying both institutional and operational mechanisms for creating tools to promote products of the EAEU countries in the world’s leading agri-food markets,” he said. Armen Harutyunyan.

Representatives of the Republic of Chile informed about the experience, measures and mechanisms for promoting agricultural products and food to the markets of third countries. Of particular interest was the information of the Chilean colleagues about the development of fruit growing and winemaking in their state, as a result of which a steady tendency to increase the volume of production and export of products of these industries was observed.

The parties exchanged experiences and plans for the introduction of new technologies in the agricultural sector, such as digitalization, precision farming, distributed ledgers, in order to increase labor productivity in the agro-industrial complex, increase production and export of agricultural products and food with high added value.
