
Arman Shakkaliev, Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, outlined the priorities in the field of protecting competition in cross-border markets at the international scientific and practical conference “Antimonopoly Policy: Science, Practice, Education” organized by the FAS Russia and the Skolkovo Foundation.
“First of all, we want our actions to protect competition have a tangible positive social effect. Today, during a pandemic, the protection of competition should be aimed at ensuring the availability of medicines and medical devices at fair prices, introducing fair roaming tariffs in the territory EAEU, protection of equal relations between consumers and digital giants on the Internet, “said Arman Shakkaliev.
One of the examples of the successful interaction of the antimonopoly regulators of the participating countries, representatives of business, public and non-profit organizations, adopted this year, are the Rules for determining the country of origin of certain types of goods for public procurement purposes. This document was approved by the Council of the Eurasian Commission and is designed to ensure equal access to public procurement for suppliers from the EAEU countries.
Speaking about the involvement of the EEC in the global processes of the development of competition, the head of the EEC competition block noted active participation in the formation of the global agenda, as well as the introduction of advanced world practices.
“Already today we are actively working on introducing guides on the best competitive practices in the field of digital economy and intellectual property into the law of the Union,” said Arman Shakkaliev.
The plenary session of the conference was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of antimonopoly regulation in Russia. Arman Shakkaliev congratulated the Russian colleagues on the significant anniversary, wishing fruitful development and effective solution of tasks to protect competition and create a favorable business climate in Russia.
Among the speakers of the conference are the heads and representatives of antimonopoly regulators from different countries of the world, experts in the field of competition law.
